The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) Surgical Instruments - Instrument Tracking Working Group have been looking at the issue of tracking and tracing of instruments and the requirement for manufactures of surgical instruments to mark instruments for tracking and traceability.

This has been difficult since the NHS as the customer is unclear about what it wants and by when.

In an effort to obtain a better understanding of the tracking and traceability priorities of the NHS, the Instrument Tracking Working Group has developed a questionnaire for contacts within the health service to fill in.
